Need to Say
Thank you - Thank you card messages: In today’s society the
old tradition of sending a thank you note or card often goes
unanswered. It is not that people have stopped doing nice
gestures such as gift giving, business favors, donating time
and money, assisting the needful or sick friend, or just
being an outstanding friend over all. The problem lies with
the recipient of the nice gesture. Possibly one has not
learned the proper etiquette that goes along with having
someone do something nice for them.

|
days past, one
would often send a personal note written to say thank you
for whatever it was that you did out of the ordinary for
that individual.
Today the task
of saying thank you has been made simpler and more
convenient through the use of thank you cards. Proper
etiquette still needs to be observed when using the more
conventional thank you card. One needs to spend an
appropriate amount of time in the selection process. |
- Simple,
Sincere, Specific
Saying, “Thank you” can be as
simple as a nod of the head or as difficult as writing many
drafts to get it “just right.”
However, there are three easy guidelines to remember –
keep it simple, sincere and specific.
Below, please find
some examples of specific occasions where a “Thank you” note is
appropriate and/or desired; and, suggested contents.
BIRTHDAY
Thank you for your lovely gift of [be specific]. It made my
birthday!
Because you chose a special gift of [be specific], my birthday
was all the more special, too.
The thoughtfulness of your [be specific] for my birthday touched
me deeply.
WEDDING
[Name of spouse] and I begin our married life with your
beautiful gift of [be specific]. Every time we look at it we will
remember your generosity. Thank you.
Beginning our marriage, [name of spouse] and I cannot thank you
enough for your thoughtful gift of [be specific].
As we start our life together, your gift of [be specific] will
last a lifetime of happiness.
ACT OF KINDNESS
My day was made brighter by your simple act of kindness. Thank
you.
Thank you for bringing sunshine into a day full of rain.
Your unexpected thoughtfulness touched my heart.
Remembering to say “Thank you” is, itself, an act of kindness
and courtesy that can last long after the gift is worn out and the
moment has passed.
